The great Welwyn duck race is back for 2025. The duck race has been part of the Welwyn Festival for around 40 years and has become a pivotal event to mark the end of the Welwyn Festival every year, supported by the whole village. Over 2,500 plastic ducks will be launched into the Mimram river for a race down the river to the bridge at the entrance to Singlers Marsh.
The online sales site is now closed so that we have time to count and verify the numbers. Don’t worry, you can still enter by visiting the 1st Welwyn Scout Stall at the Fun Day on Singler’s Marsh on 28th June 2025
On the 28th June 2025 over 2,500 plastic ducks will be released into the Mimram River alongside Singler’s Marsh and will race 100 metres down the river to the bridge. The first three ducks to reach the bridge will be winners.
There will be prizes for those who back the first three ducks to reach the bridge:
£50 – First place
£30 – Second place
£20 – Third place
All money raised will go to the 1st Welwyn Scout Group and will be used towards purchase of much needed equipment for the young people, e.g. camping equipment, pioneering poles etc.
The race will take place at the end of the Welwyn fun day at Singler’s Marsh on Saturday 28th June 2025. This is typically at around 5:30pm after the main raffle has been drawn. Please come and support the 1st Welwyn scout Group and cheer your ducks along.
Important note: No live ducks will be involved in this race. All ducks are plastic and have numbers written on the underneath.
